What an institution! St Clair Recreation Centre has a proud history of being the place for sport and fun in the western suburbs of Adelaide. Millions (yes millions) have gone through St Clair’s doors to play sport, attend community events, skate or work out in the gym over almost 50 years!
St Clair was actually the first indoor recreation centre built in the southern hemisphere. Wow, that’s some history – if only the walls could talk.
The St Clair Recreation Centre is massive and is one of the only 4-court stadiums in Adelaide. Most nights all four courts are running concurrently for netball, soccer or basketball. It’s all here. And when a roller-skating party is in full flight, the centre is super-charged.
It really is the hub of community activity in the western suburbs. So many different community groups and clubs regularly use the centre for functions and events and we also reintroduced a health & fitness suite to the centre about 5 years ago.
With so many people using the centre, it’s no wonder love has blossomed within its walls – one of our staff members met her hubby playing sport there. Ain’t that sweet!
While St Clair has a fabulous past, it has an even more exciting future.
