JESS BENNETT - Marion Leisure & Fitness Centre

Jess has jumped straight into the deep-end and is swimming comfortably with her role here as the Operations Coordinator at Marion Leisure & Fitness. Jess is responsible for all front-of-house operations, customer service and managing the group fitness timetable. Not only does Jess do the fundamentals well, but goes above and beyond in any application - you don’t see the amount of work and effort she puts in behind the scenes.

Jess kindly put her hand up to deliver the 8-week Bootcamp program - 6am starts - which wouldn’t have run without her commitment. In addition Jess also covered a TTB class at the Hub in the last months when a suitable instructor couldn’t be found. We’re not sure where Jess finds the time, but we are very happy to have her on our team!

My background at Casa Leisure: I’ve been at Casa Leisure for a little over 4 months as Operations Manager and Group Fitness Coordinator. These roles are many and varied, including greeting all the friendly faces at reception, ensuring group fitness classes are covered, hire group bookings throughout the centre, running reception and the kiosk, staff management at reception, assist in the smooth running of the entire centre and recently I have started teaching Boot Camp … so each day brings something new.

Something about work: I love greeting our members every day at reception! It’s great to see everyone enjoying their fitness and life in general.

Away from work: I have spent the last two years living in London away from my family and friends, so now I spend as much time as I can with them. Family and friends are everything to me. I also play plenty of netball for Contax Netball Club and enjoy training as often as possible. My recent challenge has been beating my time each week up Mt Lofty.

A favourite quote or saying: “A woman is like a tea bag – you can’t tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water”, Eleanor Roosevelt

If I was stuck on desert island....: I’d better get a tan …. my skin has decided to stay pale and pasty after two years of British sun (or lack thereof)
